Hospitals present a variety of unique hazards that can affect the health and safety of employees. Exposure to these hazards varies widely across hospital departments, including intensive care units, emergency rooms, and specialized treatment areas.

This course reviews common hazards faced by healthcare workers and explores effective control methods to minimize risk and exposure.

LO 1.2.2Identify hazardous chemicals and employer responsibilities under the Hazard Communication Program (HCP).
LO 1.2.3Discuss hazards from exposure to bloodborne pathogens and the employer’s Exposure Control Plan (ECP).
LO 1.2.4Describe the nature of workplace violence in healthcare and the key elements of a Violence Prevention Program (VPP).
