Road construction workers on both highways and city streets are at risk of fatal or serious injuries. The majority of road work takes place in congested areas with exposure to high traffic volumes and speeds.

This course discusses important ways to protect yourself, your co-workers, pedestrians, and motorists in a road construction zone.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

LO 1.2.1 Discuss the hazards posed by blind spots while operating vehicles.
LO 1.2.2 Identify best practices while backing vehicles, including the use of spotters.
LO 1.2.3 Describe the use of cameras, proximity detection systems, and tag-based systems to enhance vehicle safety.
LO 1.3.1 Discuss best practices when using signs, signals, and barricades on the construction worksite.
