This course explores the biological health hazards commonly found on construction sites, including exposure to mold, poisonous plants, and infected animals. It also provides practical guidance on how to recognize, prevent, and protect yourself from these dangers while on the job.
Biological agents such as bacteria, viruses, fungi (mold), and other microorganisms, along with their toxins, can negatively impact human health. Their effects range from mild allergic reactions to severe diseases — and in extreme cases, death.
These organisms are naturally present in the environment — found in the air, water, soil, plants, and animals. Because many of them reproduce quickly and thrive with minimal resources, they pose potential risks in many occupational settings, including construction.
