Introduction

Description

Employers who operate cranes on construction sites must comply with all provisions of 29 CFR 1926, Subpart CC – Cranes & Derricks in Construction. However, other employers with personnel on the site also have responsibilities under OSHA’s multi-employer policy. This policy assigns compliance duties to employers who:

  • Create hazards (creating employers)
  • Correct hazards (correcting employers)
  • Expose employees to hazards (exposing employers)
  • Have general supervisory authority over the worksite (controlling employers)

This course provides a basic introduction to OSHA’s crane standard, with a focus on the roles and responsibilities of both employers and employees. It addresses the most common compliance challenges encountered on construction sites.
