Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

This course summarizes the requirements within OSHA’s CFR 29 1926 Subpart E, Personal Protective and Lifesaving Equipment. PPE includes items such as:

  • Eye, face, head, and extremity protection
  • Protective clothing
  • Respiratory devices
  • Protective shields and barriers

PPE protects workers from mechanical, chemical, radiological, or other workplace environmental hazards.

LO 1.2.3Discuss the selection and maintenance of respirators, filters, cartridges, and canisters.
LO 1.3.1Describe lifesaving fall protection equipment to prevent falls.
LO 1.4.1Discuss safety requirements for the use of lifesaving equipment while working over water.
