This course is the sixth module in a ten-part series that makes up the 40-hour HAZWOPER training program for General Site Workers, as outlined in OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.120.
This module covers the different categories of personal protective equipment (PPE); how to choose the correct PPE level (A, B, C, or D) for various work situations; proper PPE use, maintenance, and training; and recognition and prevention of heat and cold stress.
OSHA Requirements
The 40-hour HAZWOPER program consists of two key components:
- Forty hours of off-site instruction
- Three days of supervised, site-specific field training
The online portion provided by OSH Center satisfies only the off-site instruction requirement. Employers are responsible for ensuring employees complete the three days of hands-on, worksite-specific training.
Time Requirement
According to OSHA Standard 1910.120, learners must complete 40 hours of off-site training as part of the full program. OSH Center divides this requirement into ten separate courses. Each course includes a minimum time requirement that must be met before the final exam for that module becomes available.
This specific course requires a minimum of 4 hours to complete. A timer is displayed at the top-left of every page to help you track your progress.
