Modifying Forklifts
- Use only approved parts: When replacing forklift components, ensure replacements are equivalent to the original manufacturer’s parts.
- No unauthorized modifications: Do not alter, remove, or add parts—including counterweights or lifting attachments—unless written approval is obtained from the manufacturer.
- Update documentation: Any approved modifications must be reflected in the forklift’s load capacity plate and operating instructions.
Cleaning Forklifts
- Operator responsibility: Forklift operators must keep their equipment clean.
- Routine cleaning: At the start or end of each shift, wipe all surfaces to remove dust, dirt, and grease.
- Recommended method: Use a wax-treated flannel cloth, similar to those used for cleaning cars, to protect surfaces while removing debris.
